Azwan Abdul Karim, born in December 1977 in Jerantut, Pahang, Malaysia, graduated with a major in Fine Art, Sculpture from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sri Iskandar Perak in 2003. He completed his Master's in Fine Art Technology from UiTM Shah Alam in 2007 and is currently pursuing his PhD in Transforming Sculpture Technology at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), expected to graduate in 2022. He began his career as an Art Lecturer at Baitulmal Skill Institute, Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan in 2004 and has been teaching Fine Art at the Faculty of Creative Technology and Heritage, Malaysia Kelantan University since 2015. With over 16 years of experience, Azwan specializes in contemporary art using various media, focusing on transforming sculpture with toy action figures. He has also taught part-time in Animation 2D and 3D and Industrial Design at institutions like ASWARA, UNIKL, and Universiti Malaya (UM). Azwan has actively exhibited his work and won numerous awards since primary school.
Notable achievements include winning the First Prize in the Triple Threat Challenge Transformers Design Competition in the USA (2010), the Grand Prize at the Visual Art Competition Pameran Media Seni VIII Universiti Malaya (2009), and the 2nd Place in the National Competition (Sculpture) by the Malaysian Ministry of Health (2005). His works are part of collections at Universal Studio Singapore, Galeri Seni UPSI, UiTM, Chanseleri UM,
Malaysia International Toy Fair, and various international private collections in the USA, UK, Australia, Singapore, and local private collectors.
